Poem + Invitation + Events
"Didn't we all / peel from the sky?"
Love, this sis!
Awww thanks! And oops, I guess I lied to you on the phone this morning when I said I wasn’t going to write a new poem for today.
I forgive you! And look, I wrote a poem today too. I'm calling it "Don't Stop."
.
For days after The Sopranos ended
I played “Don’t Stop Believin’” on my guitar
all the way through. Even then
I didn’t stop, I kept strumming and singing
in my mind, and in the event Tony died
he was reanimated by my notes
and now roams the Pine Barrens
with Ade and my two lost cats.
They are all fucking delighted
to have quit the Life
and to wake up every day
to the pure green world.
Last week I saw a raven walking up hill
and thought of a dozen reasons
he might be on foot. He is practicing
humility, resting his wings, wriggling
toes in dirt, drying out, playing grouse,
considering the lilies,
measuring the slope in steps, seeking sky
as usual—only tantrically this time.
My neighbor saw him too and thought
he wouldn’t survive the night.
But without a body we can’t know that,
or don’t have to anyway. Over here
you bet I won’t stop believing,
won’t stop

Beautiful!🦋
Thank you, Laura! 🌷
May we never run out of ways to love (and write about loving) the world.
Amen to that!
I love this series! Please keep going…
It actually chimes beautifully with a poem I posted this week so I hope you don’t mind me sharing here:

I'm so glad you shared, Charlie! Your poem is just beautiful. That ending!
I wish I could join you on the 26th, but I have my book launch party that day. I’d love to participate next time!
What a wonderful "problem" to have! Congratulations, Julie!
Thank you!
Beautiful, Lisa. 93 poems--yes please! Actually, that's a fantastic idea.
Thank you so much, Ann dear! I really do think I'll just keep writing them. It feels like a good practice for me spiritually and emotionally, regardless of what the poems are like.
I am loving this series, Lisa! So, so good!!
Thank you so much, Kim! That brightens my day!
