Thank you so much, Kristi - and I would love to hear your thoughts on the book! Your puzzle piece analogy feels perfect. There is definitely this sense for me of things clicking into place and some bigger picture suddenly being clear.
This moment is like a yardstick that is too short to measure the thing you need measuring. You imagine a measuring tape and how much easier the job would be if you only had it, but all you have is this yardstick. So you keep trying to make it work, frustrated and maybe a bit angry at the tool, though it's not the tool's fault that it's not the one you really need. That metaphor actually worked much better than I expected.
I almost asked about signed copies, but in my excitement, I already ordered mine! More of a reason to hope for opportunities to meet in person, I suppose! 🧡
We are playing a lot with the metaphors of rocks and water this fall in Minnesota, too. Wonderful and rich poetry here. Thanks.
Thank you, Hans! Rocks + water is such an incredibly evocative combination, isn't it? Whoever/whatever created this earth did a pretty good job.
Yes, it is!
Aren't metaphors magical?
Much more powerful with the last stanza! Thank you for sharing your process, I always find it so interesting to hear how others write.
For me when something is complete (and honestly I rarely feel that way😅) it feels like the last puzzle piece has been put in place.
Congratulations on your book! Can’t wait to read it😊

I love the last stanza, too!
Thank you so much, Corie!
That final stanza is so satisfying.

Ooooh, this is a great metaphor, Melanie!
"Do you know what I mean
when I say
I want to be
shattered, too? "
Yes, I do!
It is always so lovely to find a kindred spirit! ❤️
Congrats to you and the Madsens, friend! And I loved your poem both pre-and-post-revision. 💖
Thank you so much!! I’ll get a copy in the mail to you soon-ish!
The third stanza and the last **chef’s kiss voila!
Thank you, Jae! 💕
To answer the poem’s poignant question: yes, yes I do.
Of course you do, darling! 💜
I want a signed copy, please! 🙏
Well then have one you shall! I’ll send you a DM.

Let’s definitely make that happen! ❤️
