So glad you had a fantastic trip. I have been super lucky and had 3 relaxing short break and 2 not so relaxing camping trips with the kids. All trips took me outside my comfort zone if you will, and I didn’t suffer any detrimental consequences from any of them. I found that really looking forward and enjoying each moment of the trip meant that they went well. Maybe something in the adage a break is as good as a rest xx

I'm so happy to hear from you, Kath! I was just thinking about you yesterday and wondering how you are. Camping!! I've very impressed. I did a lot of camping pre-Covid but haven't yet been brave enough to try since getting sick, given that I'm always horrible at sleeping for the first couple nights in a tent, and I'm so sensitive to lack of sleep now. I'm hoping to attempt my first camping trip for my - gasp - fortieth birthday in November. It's so nice to have a trip to look forward to (and back on)!

Yes I always have an air mattress, pillow and duvet plus sleeping tablets to knock me out! Both camps involved a drive and 2 nights. My 15 yr old daughter loves camping and is a great help with all the heavy work. Unfortunately she can’t drive yet! I’ve got lots of go-to strategies to reduce stress and so I’m finding life good… some days I take it easy and other days I do active stuff but make sure I’m in a very relaxed state mentally before and after to avoid undue worry. Symptoms have all gone other than occasional tinnitus and spells of anxiety but hey normal well people get that, so I consider myself recovered and building up fitness back to precovid levels. Planning on doing a diploma in yoga in the new year and I want to train in yoga therapy after that. How is your forest bathing training going? Lots of love xxxx

That is all such happy news! I'm so glad that you've recovered so well. I've finished up my forest bathing training and am planning to begin offering programming for at-risk youth in my area in the next month or so . . . it's a little intimidating but also very exciting!

How are you doing now? What lingering effects do you have? I'm doing a road trip to visit daughter and family. I'm quite a bit older then you and a bit worried about the toll it will take on me. Still excited to be going on my first trip in over 18 months.

I was a bit more fatigued, dizzy, and headachey the first two days back from my trip, but I'm back to normal now (my new normal, not pre-Covid normal). I have had the experience of being very set back (weeks or months of worse symptoms) by travel, as well as the experience of no negative impacts. For me, I think stress and sleep are the most important variables. On this recent trip, there was literally no stress since I didn't even have to drive there (it was a quick flight, and then my friend drove us the rest of the way), and I slept really well since I had a room to myself. The trips that have set me back have usually involved a combination of sleep deprivation, kid-related stress, a long drive, and either my period (which always makes me feel worse) or catching another virus. Hopefully you can avoid most of those issues on your trip and can communicate your needs in advance to your family so that you get the support you need. I really hope you have a great time and no or very few negative impacts!
